A) It’s cheaper than buying pre-made.

C) I get to make it in arbitrary sizes that they might not carry in stores.

Meet my new Hackintosh!!! What’s a Hackintosh you say? it’s basically a computer that runs on the Mac Operating System but with the guts and parts of a PC computer.

“Why not just go buy the real thing at an Apple store” you might say. Well for one thing, it’s much cheaper to build one than it is to buy a Mac Pro. I’m not talking about $100-$200. I’m talking about almost half the price!

Not only is it almost HALF the price of a Mac Pro but in almost every way, It’s an even more powerful computer than what Apple is offering. If you throw in a computer monitor which is about another $200 you STILL come out saving so much more than a Mac Pro.

Destroy Your Loved Ones

After graduating back in May 2010, I never realized how sheltered I was. School made it such a safe haven that we were all impervious to true failure in life. Everything we’ve done in school was “play time” and nothing was serious. Once it’s time to fly the coop, It hit me so hard that it’s difficult to find an illustration job out there. Interning at the Society of Illustrators made it even worst. It was like rubbing salt into an open womb looking at people my age and even younger made it to the world I want to be in while I was doing coat checks and serving them Hor’ Derves. I couldn’t bear with it and I ran. I ran out of fear. Fear of failure, fear that I won’t make it. That I am the table legs supporting up everyone else’s indulgent.

But sometimes you have to let go of your safety, or you will never explore new boundaries. It goes the same for an important rule I learned back in school: “Destroy your loved ones” – If you’re drawing something and you really fell in love with the head but the rest of the painting doesn’t fit, don’t try to hold onto that one little part that’s dear. Be able to completely erase it and draw it where it makes sense. the overall outcome will look so much better than a piece of candy sitting on top of a pile of shit.

After a year of running away and not posting anything. I think I’ve had enough, It’s time to turn around and face my fears. I can’t do this to my loyal followers who check back every so often this past year. seeing that there’s still views makes me so happy and sad that I haven’t represented myself the way I should. I’m better now. Lets move forward

So 9pm rolls around and I was finally content enough to send my work off to their website. I was looking on their website for the submission link. let’s see, submission link, submission link…wait, where’s the submission link? I started getting frantic. I just wanted to send it through and get it over with now it’s not letting me. So after carefully looking through the whole website this one part said:

the premise behind it is that water is precious especailly towards the future generations. I need some critique so please shoot some comments at the bottom of the post. thanks everybody!!!

I don’t think I ever showed these. For the EPIC group, early in the beginning we had a contest to come up with a logo for the group. The idea behind it was to make a logo that we can plug our own artistic touch into it, much like the many MTV logos out there. These were my ideas. My personal favorite is the red one.

The final template goes to a design of a pencil in a shape of an e. I turned it into a monster and also played around with skiing. I even went a little overboard and lost track of the main purpose and made a picture out of it.

After the film was submitted, it was then shown at a screening the next week. We got 2nd place for our time slots (woohoo!) which then proceeded to the “Best of” screening and Award ceremony tonight.

We got 3 awards and I am very proud of our team for getting so far in the competition. I had a lot of fun doing it. We were all sleep deprived but it was all worth it at the end.
